The Most Eye-Opening Korean Film I Have Watched

Hello Blog,

Today I want to write a post on a movie that I just recently watched. Snowpiercer, directed by famous Korean producer Bong Joon-ho, really shocked me with it’s message and it’s storyline. A very popular movie in Seoul, Snowpiercer will keep you hooked to your screen. When I think of Korean movies, I always think of movies that are in Korean language and take place in the big cities in Korea. When I watched Snowpiercer, I honestly did not realize that the movie was produced by Bong Joon-Ho and had popular actor Kang-Ho Song. When watching, I was intrigued since the movie starred Chris Evans (Captain America) and had a post-apocalyptic setting.

Personally, I really enjoy post-apocalyptic movies because I enjoy seeing different realities of our world. Sci-fi movies generally really catch my attention because I feel like I am living in this alternate world where the current realities don’t exist. Watching Snowpiercer really got my juices flowing because of how different the movie was compared to American movies. I find Korean movies to be extremely well produced and well casted. The messages that come from Korean films always seem to resonate to the world in some way. For example, Snowpiercer combines a really interesting plot with a very realistic message. As Chris Evans tries to move up to the front of the train, he encounters many eye-opening experiences. Throughout the film, viewers get a glimpse of the sections of different social classes that are divided into parts of the train. The back of the train is where the lower class lives, and the front of the train is where the upper class lives. The message focused on in this movie really exemplifies the problems that our current societies face with the growing divide in social classes. As the higher class becomes wealthier, the lower class continues to grow poorer. As this divide grows, the distance between the two groups produces violence. The lower class tries to fight their way to the top while the upper class does anything to prevent the lower class from rising. From this movie, viewers get a glimpse of an ongoing divide that separates nations and produces inequalities. If you are looking for an action packed thriller of a movie, I highly recommend watching Snowpiercer
