ABOUT

Seoul Searching was designed as a final project for Professor Gladys Mac’s course in Popular Culture in East Asia (ASPA 3970) at Loyola Marymount University. This course has informed us on the global impact of pop East Asian culture by analyzing cinema, television shows, music, and social media content that derives from this area. The name Seoul Searching was decided upon to reflect the research methods and knowledge we have acquired through this course, particularly in regards to South Korean pop culture. The five creators of Seoul Searching, Madeline Coats, Gaby Pidoux, Gabby Barba, Gabby Bongiovi, JD Adams, and Ricky Mo, bonded and collaborated on this project because of their mutually strong interest in South Korean pop culture. Through Seoul Searching, we aim to illustrate how significant K-culture is by analyzing its history and its many features. Moreover, by providing a historical timeline of Seoul itself, readers will gain a throughout understanding of where many South Korean cultural trends derive from.
